General Information
On a large breathtaking farm estate in the centre of Umbria, Le Torri di Bagnara offers luxurious B&B double rooms & Jr.Suites and exclusive holiday Apartments in 'the green heart of Italy'. It sits on a hill ( 300 m. over the sea level), dominating the Northern Tiber Valley, close to Perugia, and it is made up of a complex of Historical Buildings: THE TOWER (12th century – 4 exclusive Apartments with 2, 4 & 5 beds, common laundry, panoramic terrace, terraced garden), SAINT QUIRICO ABBEY (11th century – luxury B&B with 4 Double Rooms & 3 Jr.Suites, common sitting rooms, roof-terrace, meeting room, bar).
It also features a large panoramic pool amidst a broad lawn edged with flowers, cherry and olive trees, 3 Gardens, botanic Gardens, organic Kitchen Garden, Orchards, Parking areas, huge Church with frescoes for meetings & Concerts.
“PIEVE SAN QUIRICO” Abbey dates back to the 11th century. Inside, it contains 4 double rooms & 3 Jr. Suites, with ensuite bathroom, common rooms, roof terrace, breakfast rooms, small meeting room - 15 beds altogether. It has an outside lightning with ancient streetlamps lined with forged iron, and parking areas. All Abbey rooms have air conditioning, private bathroom including bathtub + shower (some with jacuzzi bathtub), PC modem plug, coloured satellite TV, telephone, mini-bar, hairdryer, towels for the swimming-pool, and are furnished with original 18th and 19th century furnishings. There are wooden-beam cealings and terracotta floors. Jr.Suites feature entrance, closet, one bedroom and large bathroom. One Jr.Suite sleeps 3; the other Jr.Suites sleep 2.
The stone TOWER dates back to the 12th century. It features four apartments with two, four and five beds each and a single room with bathroom - 16 beds altogether. It has a covered car park and exterior lighting. Apartments are all different in type and dimensions, but all are full of light and have wonderful views over the Tiber Valley and the surrounding woods. They feature original 19th century furnishings, independent heating systems, satellite TV, hair-driers, fireplaces, barrel vaulted ceilings, terracotta floors and full equipped kitchen with washer. Each apartment has towels, bed and household linen, hair drier, mobile telephone and parking space in the car port.
Between the Tower and the Abbey, there is a large private swimming pool (about 120 square metres), in the shape of a fan and with a fountain and large wooden shelter. Thanks to its position, it is sunny from dawn to dusk and looks over the enchanting valley, with Mount Subasio and Assisi below. The guests have the use of chairs, tables, deckchairs, bath-towels, hot and cold showers. The swimming pool is open from mid-May to mid-October.
The farm lies in central Umbria, making it easy to reach from the major roads. It is 4km from the E45, which directly connects to the A1 motorway (Rome-Florence) and A14 (Bologna-Bari). Umbria’s international airport is 18km away. And its excellent geographical position puts it within easy reach of the most interesting places in and around Umbria. Lake Trasimeno is 30km away, Assisi 30km, Città di Castello 30km, Gubbio 35km, Todi 50km and Spoleto 60km. Rome, Florence, Boulogne and Ravenna are within 2 hours drive.
Its position also makes it very handy for the many festivals and fairs that take place in Umbria throughout the year. There is the Umbria Jazz Festival and the Chocolate Festival in Perugia, the Festival dei Due Mondi in Spoleto, the Todi Festival, the Festival delle Nazioni in Città di Castello, the Corsa dei Ceri in Gubbio, many truffle and mushroom fairs, theatre and cinema shows, mediaeval festivals and jousts, and much more. Just ask for a full programme listing all the major events taking place in the region.
The Residence offers a comprehensive range of services. There are guided visits around the farm and explanations of the working of this fascinating estate. There are tours (with an interpreter, if needed) to the art centres of Umbria's cities. There are Mountain Bikes, massages, cooking classes, floral arrangement classes, tasting and purchase of the Farm’s products (DOP Olive Oil, DOC Wines, Honey, Truffles). Ask for a programme of all the major events taking place in the region. There is a car and minibus with driver for hire, by request. The farm can also arrange baby sitters, a local cook or a Chef, helicopter for hire.
Nearby are towns with supermarkets, banks, bookshops, many other shops, a riding school, golf and tennis course, football field, and swimming baths. Facilities with the best Restaurants nearby (2 and 8 Km) and in the Umbria’s main Cities.
The property itself has a long history. It was purchased in 1901 by the present owners, who are a noble family descendant from Emperor Napoleon the 1st . They run it according to their values: love and respect of nature, care and enhancement of the environment, hospitality and culture.

Location Description
The buildings stand within the Bagnara Estate, an agriturismo farm including 1.300 acres/590 hectares of irrigated plains growing tobacco (since 1930) and sugar beet. A main principle of the farm is the low use of chemicals, which have been replaced with natural fertilisers. The animals are fed with natural forage and feed produced by the farm itself.
There are woods of chestnut and oak, and pastures, where hare, roe deer and Chianina cattle (famous for T-bone steaks) are raised. The animals have been carefully selected, bred and raised since 1960. The farm itself is crossed by The Tiber and dotted with small lakes, brooks and mediaeval castles.
The estate is a nature reserve, where hunting is forbidden. This makes it a haven for many wild animals, including foxes, pheasant, porcupines, partridge, squirrels, wild boars and hares. You can enjoy strolling through the woodspicking the fruit and wild flowers, and observing the animals in a protected, natural habitat.
Near the farmhouse, you will find Castello della Pieve. This church and fortress was the hiding place of famous mercenary leader Alberico da Barbiano, who in 1409 died there. The estate contains 20 further country houses of historical and architectural value.
