General Information
THE HAMLET
Palazzi Rufini is a small hamlet situated in the municipality of Corciano, near Perugia.
In 1200 it used to be a warning tower, situated on the boarder of the "Ducat of the Corgna", an important Umbrian family, which was the birthplace of numerous prelates and leaders. In the following centuries, it underwent several adjustments.
From a solitary tower, becoming a palace and therefore a travellers lodge, a hunting pavilion, a resting place for horses, a place to stay for the wayfarer direct to Perugia, or for the transit of those who where crossing Italy from one sea to the other.
In about 1880 it was purchased by the Rufini family.
It was the centre of a flourishing agricultural farm, dedicated to the cultivation of the mulberry tree and for the silkworm.
After the silk fortune, the palace and the villa were converted into a farm country house, here the farm dedicated its time to grape and olive growing and the traditional crops.
Today it has been completely renovated and restructured from the foundations, returning to be more than a splendid country-house, a hauberk and an eating place, for those who want to have a base near Perugia to visit Umbria, or just to have a rest.
The agricultural farm is rigorously biological and at present prevalently dedicated to crops (vegetables, fruit and olive growing).
For your canine friends, there are suitable enclosures with kennels not too far away so they do not cause any bother and can be looked after by their owners.
THE APARTMENTS
The apartments mentioned on the following list have been recently restored and furnished with good taste, with rustic and antique furniture following local traditions. All facilities and home comforts are included, satellite tv, cellular phone on request.
The kitchens are completely furnished with washing-machine, dishwasher, electric oven, plates, pans for a family in the apartment.
THE KITCHENS ARE SUPPLIED WITH NECESSARY ELEMENTS FOR A WEEKLY-STAY OR MORE, SALT, PEPPER, HERBS, SPICES, OIL, VINEGAR, ONIONS, GARLIC AND SOAP FOR DISHWASHER AND PLATES.
Furthermore, there are blankets, bed linen, eiderdown quilts, towels and tea towels.
The apartments are cleaned twice a week.
We have a single room with a bathrooom, available for guests detached from the apartments, which is available for guests. It can be used for a passing friend or even for a baby sitter. The cost is 30,00 euros in low season and 50,00 euros in high season. The room is not rented out separately.
VECCHIO MOLINO" APARTMENT
It's certainly the pride of the master of the house. A very cosy and smart apartment which is over the old mill. Particular attention has been given to the interiors, adding a few fine antiques to the traditional Umbrian country style furnishings. Some family paintings, the wooden beam ceilings, and, moreover, it is charmingly situated as well, for an unforgettable stay.
A beautiful stone and brick staircase leads to the apartment, which overlooks the garden and the swimming pool. From the small terrace you can watch magnificent sunsets.
The apartment is on two levels: on the first one there is a large living room, one bed room with double bed, one bathroom with shower, a small equipped kitchen with storeroom; on the second one, a large gallery overlooking the living room with a divan bed for two persons.
Next to the gallery, another bed room with double bed and one single bed and one bathroom.
Some family paintings and wooden beam ceilings for an unforgettable stay. It's excellent for a family of 5 -7 persons or for a long stay.
It should be mentioned that the staircase doesn't, unfortunately, provide, access to the disabled.
"ANTICA RIMESSA" APARTMENT
It's the smallest apartment, about 70 s.m.
It has been made out of the antique reserve of the house and its adjacent stables. It's the result of a skilful utilization of the space.
It's for four people. It's ideal for a family with two children or two couples.
It's on the ground floor so the access is also allowed to the disabled people. One bathroom is partially equipped for this.
The apartment consists of two comfortable bed rooms with private bath with shower. The first one with a double bed and the other one with twin beds. One living room with kitchenette and a wood-burning stove, is shared by the two rooms. The furnishings are simple but stylish with hand made decorated wardrobe and lamps.
DEL FATTORE" APARTMENT
"Cosy" is the right word to describe this apartment. The independent entrance is from a little staircase.
Inside, a large, comfortable living room with a wood-burning stove, and a divan bed for two persons, one perfectly equipped kitchen, two bed rooms with double beds and private baths with shower.
It's furnished with matching colours and the details are carefully planned.
The apartment has a fine view over the garden so the environment is pleasant and relaxing.
The old farmer Dino lived there for a long time there. He was a special person, very dear to the Rufini family.
"DELLE GUARDIE" APARTMENT
On the upper floor of the main house, facing the women's apartment, overlooks the South. It consists of a large living-dining room on two levels with fireplace and divan bed, a small equipped kitchen, two comfortable bed rooms, the first one with double bed, the other one with twin beds. Private bath with shower. About 120 s.m. An extra small bed can be added to one of the rooms. It's ideal for 6 persons or a family of 4 - 6 persons.
The view over the garden, the big wooden beamed ceilings, give the home a special warmth and a romantic light. Moreover the apartment is beautifully sited.
The interiors are furnished very carefully and the temperature is cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
"DELLE DONNE" APARTMENT
On the upper floor of the main house, this apartment overlooks the North area. About 90 s.m.
It consists of a large living-dining room with a perfectly equipped kitchenette, two large bed rooms, the first one with a double bed, the second one with twin beds. An extra single bed is available in the living room. Private bath with shower.
The apartment is furnished in the traditional country style with the simplicity and the warmth of the floor done in terracotta tiles. A warm light comes out from the rooflight. No lift. There are four flights, not too hard.
SPORT AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES
Palazzi Rufini is not just a country farmhouse for sporty people. It was born with the idea, above all for those who want to visit Umbria, to relax and to read a good book in the shade of a tree, to walk among nature and silence.
The guests will find an INTERNATIONAL BOOK LIBRARY containing French, German and Swedish books.
In the company of the master of the house, it possible to organize Italian and regional COOKING LESSONS.
There are also PAINTING LESSONS during the summer. Naturally we offer some equipment.
COOKING COURSES
Cuisine has always been the passion of the master of the house. He would have liked to have had a restaurant but this would have involved and upset the family habits and other activities which they would have had to give up, but not all.
Sometimes during the year prevalently in the spring and summer, but also on request if the number of participants is adequate, cooking courses are organized on themes.
A full immersion course lasting a week , four hours a day of theory and practice.
At the end of the course a COOKING COMPETITION BETWEEN THE PARTICIPANTS (dishes cooked in their own apartments).
PAINTING COURSES
For many generations there have been artists in the Rufini Family, amateurs of course, but not without talent. Having created this country farm house, the opportunity to give hospitality to many people, we are able to offer the possibility of organizing painting courses and sculpture during the year, mainly in the summer time.
Step by step it will be possible to carry out courses on location more extensively and further detailed information will be given.
TALENTED ARTISTS OR ART TEACHERS CAN CONTACT US AND SUGGEST SOME IDEAS, WE WOULD TAKE THEIR CVS INTO CONSIDERATION.

Location Description
Palazzi Rufini are found to the center of the Umbria, in the green heart of Italy. Also finding itself in campaign, between sweet hills umbre, in the green and in Hush, it is a lot very connected: to 12 Km from Perugia and 30 minuteren from all the main tourist centers of the region: Assisi, Gubbio, Todi, Trevi, Spello etc and to 45 minuteren from the Tuscany and Cortona, Siena, Arezzo, etc
