Careful restoration has tranformed this ancient convent into an elegant rural residence which gives a warm welcome to people longing for a peaceful and comfortable place. Situated on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, Il Biribino is an ideal base to stay and visit the most important historic towns of both regions.

Quickly looking at human settlings in Umbro-Tuscany countryside, we certainly find a strong anthropomorphous landscape; you can see it particularly in upper corner of Umbria on the border with Tuscany and in the upper valley of the Tiber river. On the wide, morphologically variegated area, out of many historical centres of a certain importance (Città di Castello, Sansepolcro, Umbertide, Citerna, Pietralunga and Lisciano Niccone) The territory is also marked by historical settlements built on ancient routes. In fact we often find villages built around oratories or country house or spin towers.

Not far from the main routes stand the farm houses, a very important rural artistic heritage, joined by many country lanes. The historical importance of these estates is esteemed in its environmental and panoramic aspects. In particular IL BIRIBINO farm-house is testimonial to country life and even today the feast of threshing is held here.

The name Il Biribino comes from important historic events Passed on through the word and mouth or it refers to ancient worship Places or even it finds its etymological roots in the first civilisation IL Biribino, certainly a most noteworthy farm house, stands on the plain north of Città di Castello. The oldest part of the building is the tall square tower with brick moulding. On the front facade is a double arched loggia which dates back to 15th century.
