Sant’Illuminato Holiday Farm is located in the upper Valley of the Tiber, near the border between Umbria and Tuscany, within easy driving distance of scenic and historic centers like Città di Castello (18 Km); Arezzo (50 Km); San Sepolcro (32 Km); Cortona (35 Km); Gubbio (42 Km); Perugia (55 Km); Assisi (68 Km); Todi (90 Km); and Lake Trasimeno (42 Km). Nestled in the low hills overlooking the Valley, Sant’Illuminato is a fully enclosed expanse of around 18 hectares. It rolling fields are interspersed with cool, sun-dappled woodlands.

Production activities center on the cultivation of wheat, corn, fresh fruit and honey. The ancient stone farm buildings were originally owned by the noble Bourbon del Monte family. The large farmhouse reserved for our guests sits on a low hill (300 m. above sea level) that offers unobstructed views of the valley, all the way to the Tiber. The original structure dates back to the late 1600s, but a number of additions have been made to meet the needs of the farm families that lived and worked on the lands over the centuries.

The entire complex has now been completely restored to create independent apartments, each tastefully and distinctively furnished and equipped with all modern comforts. Great care has been taken to preserve the original architecture, and the wooden beams, terracotta tiles, and stone fire-places in some of the apartments are close to 300 years old. In keeping with the traditions of old, each room has its own color and mood.The Farmhouse contains five fully independent apartments that vary in size, lay-out, sleeping capacity, and kitchen facilities. In a separate building nearby, there’s also a cozy one-room apartment that’s perfect for a single couple. Thanks to the natural insulation of the massive stone walls (half a meter thick!), all of the apartments remain cool during the hot summer months and toasty warm during the winter. Each is fully furnished and equipped with everything you’ll need to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing vacation in the country.

Food and other supplies can be purchased in the towns and villages nearby. The small lake next to the farmhouse is perfect for swimming, sports fishing, picnics (in the shady pine woods that line its shores) or quiet meditation. In front of the Farmhouse, there’s also a pool (6-12 m) that’s fully equipped for counter-current swimming and hydromassage.
