General Information
The Fattoria San Donato is a Holiday farm in a locality called Tonacato, near Poppi. It is an ancient convent that dates back to the 15th century.
It has been finely restored using original material and is at 550 meters above sea level. It has apartments for 2 or 4 persons, with a kitchen, spacious rooms and living room that face the splendid loggias and gardens surrounded by luscious green vegetation.
It has an immense swimming pool and is the ideal place to spend a quiet holiday in the Tuscan countryside. Casentino, the high valley of the Arno River, a land of castles, Romanesque parish churches, Della Robbia terracotta relievos, places described by Dante Alighieri and places for spiritual enlightenment: the Monasteries of Camaldoli and La Verna. This is why it can be said to be one of the most beautiful valleys in Tuscany. Its natural landscape, a green oasis, has been the inspiration for poets of all time.
The Casina del Prato, (the house on the lawn), belongs to the Fattoria S. Donato. It is an ancient farm house of the Leopoldine period (1700) that has been finely restored with style and elegance. It makes a pleasant stay for its guests thanks to the various apartments. The Holiday farm is not far from Poppi, Pratovecchio and the bounderies of the Tarco of the Casentino Forests, Mount Falterona and Campigna. Right in front one has the Castle and the parish church of Romena.
