General Information
Along the Chianti's road, on the hills of the Arno Valley, the small country village "La Forra" offers nice apartments, which have been renewed enhancing the original structure, adding on the "old-times style" all modern facilities and comforts.Comforts that you'll find also in the restaurant which, thanks to the typical tuscan kitchen will make you known ancient values and flavours.
Guests will enjoy wonderful holidays at "La Forra": it's located in the very middle of the country side and, at the same time, close to the most beautiful and historical Tuscan cities such as Florence and Arezzo (40 min.), Siena and San Gimignano (1 hour), Cortona (1 hour).
The farm "La Forra" is located in the middle of the Chianti, surrounded by oaks, chestnut trees, healty pine trees and wonderful olive trees; it faces one of the most beautiful valleys of Tuscany, the Arno river valley. The peculiar orographic conformation of this land suggested the farm's name "Fattoria la Forra" and the restaurant's name Borgoforra.
The name Forra comes from the Longobard word "Furha" meaning steep ditch caused by water erosion or land subject to landslides covered by bushes and shrubs.Services avaible for our guests: A private swimming-pool and a tennis court are at your disposal.
The restaurant "Borgoforra", located in the old wine cellar, gives both simple and refined emotions in all seasons:during summer, in the wonderful panoramic terrace, and during winter, in the cosy atmosphere of the fireplace.The chef offers local specialities enriched by his personal experience: Acqua cotta alla senese (bread soup), crema di fagioli zolfini al tartufo (white beans cream with truffle), cacciagione alla griglia (wild animals meat), salumi toscani, ravioli noci e gorgonzola (pasta with walnut and gorgonzola cheese), straccetti allo zafferano (saffrol veal). A wide selection of wines is always available.
It's also possible enjoy of mountain bike renting inside the farm. Around the Farm are some ways by CAI (Italian Mountain Club) to walking and trekking.
For people love horses, the place around the farm is particulary comfortable to walk totaly immersed in the nature.
Who would like to come with their horse can spend the night in the farm's apartments, being able to use box and paddock for their animals. For who haven't a horse, about 10kms distance there's the possibility to use a riding ground with qualified instructors.
