Over the past 20 years a new type of tourism has grown strongly throughout Italy, Agritourism or Agriturismo as it is know in Italy. This type of tourism is orientated around having a rural experience which you share with the family who owns the farm or Agritourism on which you are staying. Generally, these properties are vineyards or orchards and you are able to enjoy the fruits of the farm and in many cases your meals are prepared in traditional settings and dishes by the family itself.
Agritourism is an excellent option to the traditional types of accommodation and gives you the opportunity to stay in working farmhouses, in which you can rent an apartment and often buy the farm produce - or have it cooked for you!. These are known as agriturismi (country tourism - or perhaps agrarian tourism? - basically a farm stay holiday) and are very popular. They also often now have swimming pools and are great for families.

Broccostella - Frosinone nel Lazio
L’antico centro medievale è appollaiato in alto su una collina alta 527 mt, ed è citato fin dal 1017 in un atto di donazione all’Abbazia di Montecassino da parte dei Principi di Capua. Nel 1213 Papa Innocenzo III° chiese ed ottenne da Federico II° vari territori di proprietà dell’Abbazia, tra cui il castello di Broccostella. Nel 1215, con la “Bolla d’oro” di Spira, Federico II° concesse definitivamente alla Chiesa la Contea di Sora con tutti i suoi castelli. Nel 1445 passò ai signori di Alvito, i Cantelmo, divenuti nel frattempo Duchi di Sora, ai quali nel 1475 subentrarono i Della Rovere, nipoti di Papa Sisto V°. Il suo territorio è attraversato dal fiume Fibreno, emissario del vicino lago di Posta Fibreno, dove si pratica la pesca sportiva alla rinomata trota.
